Are the WWE live events tied/connected to its televised events?

I can only remember maybe once or twice that a title has changed hands at a live event. If it does, they'll put it up on wwe.com so it has some tie ends and they always tell u who's going to be there and the main events because who would really show up if they didn't know what to expect and got no names at live events.
