What kind of options are out there for Stage IV Lung Cancer?

I know that a cure from cancer is a VERY controversial subject today, and I know the claimed reason why. But when you have someone you love who is diagnosed with an advanced, inoperable and "incurable" disease, you tend to look for options. Any and all options. The conventional doctors have left him with no hope of recovery, and have given him the option of chemotherapy merely for palliative care only. So we are looking into all other alternatives. What kind of things have been proved true to work? What options are out there? Have any studies been done? Where can we find accurate statistics showing those who actually have had Stage IV lung cancer and gone into remission? Thank you for any and all help! God bless you!
